The return of the Festival of Science and Curiosity

Learn Festivals

Nottingham's Festival of Science and Curiosity is back and bigger than ever. Left Lion spoke to producer Megan Shore about all that is happening this year and what's not to be missed. Wednesday 12th to Wednesday 19th February. Venues all over everywhere.

Published February 9th

Whizz-bopping and think-tanking is in our city’s DNA – we’ll spare you the Boots and ibuprofen-filled speech – and we have two universities and a host of other companies ticking their way through the latest innovative research. It therefore makes perfect sense that we’re home to a week long festival about science. It’s jam-packed with workshops, pop-up events and loads more.

Boots island site 500x326

Conygar, the company behind the development of the Boots Island site in the Creative Quarter, has started work to clear the site ahead of construction beginning as soon as this summer. It's now called The Island Quarter.

Stephen Barker, CEO of the Creative Quarter Company said; "It's great that at long last we have activity on this site and by developers clearly committed to making things happen fast.

Much of the Island Quarter is in the Creative Quarter so it has potential to be a big boost for the economy of this part of the city. Creative and digital businesses cluster in the Creative Quarter at twice the density of the rest of the city centre.

The Island Quarter should become a super place for people working in those businesess to live, right on the doorstep of everything else the Creative Quarter has to offer.
