Sneinton Market - Landmark Nottingham Scheme gets the green light

A new 58,500 sq ft mixed-use building which could totally transform the entrance to Nottingham’s Sneinton Market area, has been given the go-ahead by City Council planning chiefs.

Back in January, it was revealed that Sam Burt’s Carlton Street Trading, which was responsible for refurbishing and re-opening the Fox & Grapes pub in Sneinton Market, was behind the plans, which also include a football museum.

People who work and live in the Creative Quarter have been helping to influence the plans to transform the 40-acre scrub land behind BioCity and the BBC building, known as the former Boots Island site.

Architects, local residents, Sneinton market tenants, local business owners and festival organisers were amongst those who fed back on plans to create a brand new mixed-use scheme which will expand the Creative Quarter.

The team behind this development - Conygar, Lavignac and FutureCity, presented initial ideas on how to breathe new life into the site while embedding and embracing Nottingham’s culture.

This is one of the largest regeneration sites outside of London in private ownership and presents a really exciting opportunity for Nottingham and its already thriving Creative Quarter
