Plans to turn a vacant Nottingham city centre church into a market-style deli bar have been given the green light.
Invest NewsCastle Gates Group will turn the Congregational Church at 4 Castle Gate into a new food and drink venue for Nottingham that could be home to up to eight independent street food vendors with a bar area on both the ground and upper floors.
“The new venue would create 44 jobs and open between 11am and 11pm from Monday to Friday and on Sunday, and from 11am until midnight on Saturday.”
The plans by Lewis Hickey architects outline a venue which would use the church’s organ as a centrepiece as well as re-use the building’s pews and include outdoor seating. It would also include a coffee shop.
Street food markets have become popular over recent years. Local examples include Derby’s successful Bustler Market in the Riverlights complex.
