“Work on Nottingham Castle is progressing rapidly. The scaffolding which has been a very visible addition to the city skyline has enabled our contractors to lift the roof and check the structural integrity and condition of the Ducal Palace’s roof timbers. A lot of the internal strip-out works required inside the Castle has now been completed and foundations for the new-build elements for the Rebellion Gallery and new visitor centre are underway. The good weather has aided us greatly and it’s exciting to see so much progress being made.”
Spokesman for Nottingham City CouncilWith work on the Castle progressing at a rapid rate, it is expected to open next year! The expectations of visitors to come to the Castle should drastically increase to a huge 400,000 visitors in the first year after re-opening. This will then generate up to £90 million back into Nottingham's economy.
There will be improved access to the city's caves, so people can visit the deep dark past of what once was! Visitors from all over and locals can expect lots of fun treats and activities when the Castle is redeveloped and open again.
