Small Business Saturday is a national grass roots, not-for-profit campaign that encourages people up and down the country to go out and support small businesses and their communities on Saturday 7th of December, and all year round.
Invest NewsWe are a proud city of independents, filled with shops, creatives and entrepreneurs and Small Business Saturday celebrates that. In partnership with Nottingham City Council, Nottingham BID, Visit Notts, and the Creative Quarter we want to celebrate what Nottingham has to offer and promote the use of local independent goods and services.
Throughout the day there are many ways in which you can support your local businesses and help grow our local economy - the first of which is to go out and shop local! (It's good for your carbon footprint too.)
So how else can you get involved?
Shoppers:
Nottingham BID Street Ambassadors to engage with and sign post shoppers
On Saturday 7th December, the BID Street Ambassadors will be in key independent shopping locations around the city centre to engage with you and point you in the direction of independent retail and leisure businesses. If you're looking for a present this Christmas for someone in particular, these are the people who can help!
Nottingham Independents Trail
The Bead Shop on Market Street is organising flyers to encourage customers to visit as many different independent businesses as possible on the day. Customers will receive a stamp/sticker on the back of the flyer with a purchase from a participating independent retailer. Cards with 7 different stamps will be entered into a prize draw to win a variety of prizes from different Nottingham businesses.
Businesses:
Independent Tote Bags from Nottingham BID
The BID’s Nottingham Independent tote bags were hugely popular during their campaign celebrating Independent retail and leisure businesses earlier in the year. If you would like some to give out to your customers on the 7th please get in touch marketing@nottinghambid.com by Friday 29th November. Please note that the amount you receive will be determined by how many businesses want to take part.
Nottingham BID Street Ambassadors - freebies and signposting
The BID Street Ambassadors will be in key locations around the city centre to engage with visitors and point people in the direction of independent retail and leisure businesses. If you have any particular freebies/samples to hand out on the day please notify marketing@nottinghambid.com by Friday 29th November and the BID Ambassadors will collect these from you to distribute on the day helping signpost them to your business.
Everyone:
Spead the word on Social Media
Nottingham City Council, Nottingham BID, Visit Notts and the Creative Quarter will be using social media to celebrate Nottingham’s wealth of vibrant, quirky, cool and popular independent high street businesses and share the Small Business Saturday message – that Nottingham is proud to “SHOP LOCAL!”
You can help us to spread the word and publicise the campaign by taking a photo of yourself, your staff, friends, customers etc outside your business and tweet out to your followers:
