The Vice-Chancellor's of both UoN and NTU, Professor Shearer Carroll West and Professor Edward Peck respectively, received CBE's in the Queen's New Years' Honours list, in addition to two staff members from the University of Nottingham.
Learn NewsDozens of Nottingham residents have been recognised for their work in the New Year's Honours List, which was announced last week. Four members of staff across the University of Nottingham and Nottingham Trent University have received awards for their services to Education.
Professor Edward William Peck, Vice-Chancellor at Nottingham Trent University, has been awarded a CBE for services to education.
He said:
“I have had the privilege of working in two of the institutions that for me characterise all that is best about Great Britain: the National Health Service and our universities. I am profoundly grateful to receive this award and look forward to continuing to play my small part in making our country one where access to health and prosperity are open to all regardless of their background.”
Vice-Chancellor of the University of Nottingham, Professor Shearer West, has also been awarded a CBE for services to education. She said:
“I feel humbled and privileged at being recognised in the Queen’s New Year’s Honours for services to higher education. I have a passionate belief in the value of education and research to transform lives and communities, and have been fortunate to learn from so many capable and committed colleagues over many years who have shared this vision.”
Also from the University of Nottingham, Kelly Vere, Director of Technical Skills and Strategy, receives an MBE and Kate Robertson, a retired assistant professor in the School of Medicine, will receive an MBE for services to occupational therapy.
