On Wednesday 12 October from 3pm - 5pm, the Creative Quarter will host a showcase of garments created in collaboration between NTU's Fashion Design students and homeless charity Emmanuel House.
Learn EventsMarking four years of collaboration between NTU’s Nottingham School of Art & Design and Emmanuel House homeless charity, first year BA Fashion Design students will present outerwear created from waste textiles at an afternoon showcase hosted by the Creative Quarter at Sneinton Market Avenues.
Considering both functionality and the overall aesthetic, each first year student was tasked by Emmanuel House to design and create a sustainable outerwear garment from unwanted textiles, to be used by a person experiencing homelessness or sold in the Emmanuel House charity shop to raise funds.
Following a welcome from the CQ and introductions to the project from representatives of NTU and Emmanuel House, a range of garments will be on display in The Shop to view in detail. A number of final year photography students will be covering the event, and Stewarts of Trent Bridge are also kindly sponsoring refreshments.
This event is open to everyone - join us to see the outcomes, meet the students and find out more about this important community collaboration.
