The Department of Architecture and Built Environment at the University of Nottingham is launching Project: Nottingham, celebrating our city and its assets through student projects.
Learn OpportunitiesA new initiative will see approximately 1000 students engaging with sites across Nottingham to develop architecture, planning and engineering projects. They will aim to address the challenges and opportunities brought in by the city's 2028 zero carbon target, the pandemic recovery, the need to reimagine our high streets amongst others.
Local organisations are being asked to register their interest in contributing to Project: Nottingham, whether that's by sharing or setting a brief, facilitating site visits to areas currently earmarked for development, or offering feedback to students during the project's process.
Projects may include everything from planning and urban design, retrofit and repurpose, to renewable integration into the existing landscape. You may be a local business wanting ideas for a new office space, or a community group interested in how a currently underused space may be developed for the benefit of local residents. With much of the city either under development or the subject of planning applications, there are multiple opportunities to re-imagine Nottingham with the help of the next generation of architects, town planners and engineers.
Nottingham organisations interested in engaging with Project: Nottingham should contact Prof Lucelia Rodrigues from the Department of Architecture and Built Environment on lazltr@exmail.nottingham.ac.uk.
