Celebrating its seventh anniversary, the Festival of Science and Curiosity is running from 7-16 February 2022.
Life FestivalsThe Nottingham Festival of Science and Curiosity is back with a renewed vigour for all things scientific and curiosity-inspiring and with a programme brimming with activities for all the family across the county. Celebrating its seventh anniversary, the festival is running from 7-16 February. The festival is all about providing opportunities for people in Nottinghamshire to be inquisitive, ask questions and let curiosity lead the way.
Among the highlights is The Curiosity Show, reinvented from last year's Wollaton Watch, a series of five hour-long children’s TV shows broadcast live, 4-5pm on Notts TV, which will feature live science demonstrations, interviews and try-at-home activities, as well as exploring all things curious across Nottinghamshire.
The festival magazine is back for a second year with a brand new look, exciting new content and a range of fun activities for all the family.
The festival will be hosting events for schools exploring how we use and gather data in our everyday lives, as well as talks about careers in science, including one celebrating International Day for Women and Girls in STEM. The festival also has a range of free in-person events such as artist installations at Wollaton Hall and Broadway, a wide range of workshops delivered by local researchers and hands-on activities in libraries. The festival has something for everyone.
The Nottingham Festival of Science and Curiosity is produced by local education charity Ignite!, with support from a wide range of festival network organisations. This year's festival is delivered in partnership with University of Nottingham and Nottingham Trent University; Ashfield, Bassetlaw, Gedling, Mansfield, Nottingham City, Nottinghamshire County, Newark and Sherwood and Rushcliffe Councils; local businesses Catalent, Sygnature Discovery and Quotient Sciences; and the local enterprise partnership D2N2.
Megan Shore, the festival producer said:
“We’re so excited to be able to bring the festival back out into spaces across the county and we’ve put together such a fascinating line up of activities, from rockets to brains to viruses to fungi! But we’ve also got our ‘covid keepers’ - the magazine and TV programme - which were really successful last year so we can’t wait to show everyone our new and improved versions for 2022!”
