Light Night is set to return to Nottingham city centre again with over thirty immersive and interactive light installations, performances and activities. Here's the lowdown on what's happening in the CQ.
Life NewsLight Night is back on Friday 3 and Saturday 4 February 2023 and the Creative Quarter will be playing host to some illuminating activity suitable for all ages.
The main attraction in the area will be Evanescent on Sneinton Market Square (outside the Victoria Leisure Centre), an immersive light and sound environment that aims to capture the concept of ephemerality and transience in a visual form: the bubble. This art-chitecture piece connects audiences with their environment and is designed to be truly inclusive, appealing to our universal playfulness and childlike wonder.

Activity on the Plaza (outside Blend) will include an enchanted forest featuring elves and fairies and all manner of magical creatures. Come along and wander amongst the trees to see who you can spy. Keep an eye out for some hidden fairy doors across the Avenues, illuminated by a UV trail. If you make your way through the forest, you'll stumble across some intriguing shadow puppetry in The Shop. This will be taking place between 5pm - 8pm on both Friday and Saturday.
Nottingham Street Food Club will be helping with the hunger by pitching up on Sneinton Market Avenues with two top-tier food traders: Dirty Chicken and authentic Argentinian BBQ from Banquet1415.
Blend will be open until 8pm on Friday and Saturday with their usual menu, and their caravan Helga will also be serving mulled wine and hot drinks to keep the cold at bay. For additional drinks options, there will be a bar in Minor Oak, and Redsmith Distillery will be serving gin and cocktails. Neon Raptor will be open until 10pm on both nights, with a soundtrack of Light-Night themed tunes.

Shops on the Avenues will be open including new record shop Running Circle, who will be hosting a neon exhibition in their unit on Freckingham Street on the Saturday night. By Our Hands will be hosting their regular Friday night Spoon Moot between 6pm – 8pm, all by candle light. Luisa’s Vegan Chocolate will also be open on Avenue A.
There is a full program of events available online at the Light Night app which is available to download through the IoS App Store or Google Play. There will be a small number of printed guides available through the tourist information centre and key locations in the city centre.
The city-wide Light Night event is organised by Nottingham City Council along with Nottingham Business Improvement District (BID), which is the organisation behind It's in Nottingham. It has been supported with funding from the National Lottery through Arts Council England.
