‘LES GENS’, a clothing brand from Nottingham hosted its 1-year anniversary pop up event to celebrate creativity amongst Nottinghamshire in Hockley on Sunday 20th October.
Life NewsStarted in October by Rhys who is 23 and from Ruddington, LES GENS started with just 2 T-shirts which he sold to close friends and family and is now constantly producing new products every couple of months. They are now based in a studio space in Sneinton in which they moved into in June, their clothes are stocked in Mimm store in Hockley and on their website.
The Clothing brand held an event to present everything they have made in their first year producing items and also to create a platform to showcase local talent from graffiti artists to DJs and really shine a light on Notts’ creative scene.
The pop-up aimed to bring not only youth who the brand is aimed at, but also art and culture lovers interested in seeing just a small sample of the creativity and talent young people in Nottingham have to offer.
“We as a brand try and represent the uncertainty and confusion many young people face in todays society and try and promote that you should embrace what makes you happy and find your own individuality, the event on the 20th hopefully showed people that there are many ways to express that, if that would be through art, music or creating clothes. Nottingham has so many talented people from musicians, photographers, artists, DJs and loads more. A lot of the time its not really something shouted about, this is something we should really celebrate as much as possible. We felt it was only right to try and invite some of our favourite creatives to join us and have an event to help shout about this. Helping to put on a day filled with art, music and fashion.”
Rhys Loydall, Owner of LES GENSThe 1st Anniversary pop up was held at The Dance Studios, 3-9 Hockley, Nottingham on the 20th of October 2019.
