by Emmanuel House
On Thursday, May 30 from 6-8pm, Emmanuel House will be holding a celebration event at the Emmanuel House Support Centre on Goose Gate, Nottingham. The purpose of the evening will be twofold...
Life NewsFirstly, to celebrate the work of Nottingham Trent University Level 1 Fashion Design students and to showcase their design work on outerwear garments made for the service users, from unused items in Emmanuel House's clothing donation store. Secondly, to raise awareness of the work of Emmanuel House and their charity shop. Working with the students has offered a real-life scenario in which to create garments for their service users, an experience that has been both eye-opening and valuable to all involved.
As a charity, Emmanuel House is acutely aware of waste and the importance of re-purposing and re- selling in order to raise funds via our charity shop. They also see through donations of clothing, the impact of fast fashion trends. Partnering with Nottingham Trent University Level 1 Fashion Design students has been a perfect opportunity to explore the expansion of a product life cycle along with designing for the end user in mind.
“Our Support Centre is unique in its approach to tackling homelessness in and around Nottingham City. Our charity shop is forward-thinking in terms of highlighting sustainability and creativity for people in clothing poverty and those who are much better off.”
Emmanuel HouseEmmanuel House would like to invite you to attend the event and any others you may feel would enjoy the evening celebrating sustainable fashion and innovation.
