The folks behind the recent Light Hustle event have upped their game and joined forces with Nottinghamshire's creative organisations and individuals for a new online festival to take place over the Bank Holiday weekend at the end of May.
Life NewsOn Saturday 23 and Sunday 24 May, the team that brought you the massively successful musical marathon Light Hustle will deliver a new, multi-arts online event by Notts, for Notts: Nottstopping Festival.
The Creative Quarter is proud to help fund the festival alongside Nottingham City Council, Nottingham BID, Marketing NG and Nottingham Culture Board plus support from Inspire, One Nottingham, the Confetti Media Group and Notts TV.
The weekend will have two main aims. Firstly, to be a world-class multi arts festival, with a two-day line-up of incredible entertainment provided by Nottinghamshire’s creative community and the organisations within it curating a programme of music, poetry, comedy, theatre, food, art & design workshops, family focused activities and more. Secondly, to act as a community connect project, reaching Nottinghamshire’s various communities and helping to connect residents with their neighbours during the lockdown. There will be various community projects initiated as part of the festival, including sing and dance-a-longs, free postcards delivered to residents so that they can send on positive messages to a neighbour they’ve never met, and a writing project encouraging each street in Nottinghamshire to collaborate (safely) and write a children's story to be performed during the festival.
Billed as a festival by Notts and for Notts, the diverse programme will be packed with wide-ranging content from the region’s vibrant cultural sector including Royal Concert Hall, Nottingham Playhouse, Lakeside, Rough Trade, Confetti Institute of Creative Technologies and Metronome, Wigflex, Nottingham Castle, Broadway Cinema, BFI Network, Just The Tonic, Television Workshop, Dance4, University of Nottingham, Nottingham Music Hub, Nottingham Poetry Festival, Notts TV and Nottingham City of Literature.
The festival will be streamed in full via nottstoppingfestival.com and an online brochure will present the full programme.
Hockley Hustle director and Nottstopping Festival organiser Ben Welch said::
“We see, hear and feel the need to continue making, collaborating and delivering artistic content across Nottinghamshire, connecting with as many communities and individuals as possible digitally and beyond. This festival is a vital opportunity to bring together Nottinghamshire’s incredible cultural organisations and individuals to stage a weekend of positive, uplifting brilliance for thousands of people across the city and county in a time of unprecedented uncertainty and separation.”
If you are an Nottinghamshire artist or creative facilitator who would like to submit their work for consideration in the festival programme, please download and fill out the form below and send it to info@nottstoppingfestival.com by 5pm on Friday 1 May.
