Broadway Cinema is proud to present a free premiere screening of three short films created by the participants of its seventh BFI Film Academy on Thursday 7 March at 7pm.
Life NewsFeaturing local professional actors from The Television Workshop and shot using industry standard equipment, Evaded, Flash and Untitled were all written and produced by the 20 aspiring young filmmakers taking part in the Academy, a programme which looks to unearth emerging film talent from the Midlands
The free premiere screening will be an opportunity to see the three short films and meet the talented young filmmakers behind them.
Many previous graduates of Broadway’s BFI Film Academy programme have gone on to take significant first steps into the film industry; amongst Broadway’s recent alumni success stories, several have secured paid trainee roles on major feature film productions including Star Wars: Episode IX and the Fantastic Beasts franchise.
“The Academy offers these creative and passionate young people from all backgrounds an invaluable opportunity to explore this exciting industry. We see their professional and personal development completely blossom throughout their journey with us, allowing them to do what initially seemed unimaginable and take their first steps towards a full-time career in film! The premiere screening is the crowning occasion for these young adults to celebrate the past three months of hard work and perseverance and to share their finished work with friends, family and a real cinema audience.”

The seventh BFI Film Academy delivered by Broadway took place between November 2018 and January 2019. Twenty young people aged 16-19 took part in an intensive “Experience Film” programme involving over 125 hours of activity, developing their practical knowledge and skills through hands-on training led by experienced professionals working across all roles in the film industry. Course participants then team up to make short films which are premiered at a gala screening at Broadway.
