Broadway Cinema’s Crime, Mystery and Thriller Festival, Shots in the Dark, returns for a 2019 edition taking place from 30 May – 2 June at Broadway.
Life NewsFollowing on from its revival in 2018, this year’s edition of Shots in the Dark will consist of four days of special screenings, discussions, and introductions – offering new perspectives on classic and modern titles. This 2019 edition focuses on the theme of obsession, from erotic fixations to the meticulous precision of the perfect crime.
The Festival will open on Thursday 30 May with a talk from the UK’s foremost forensic pathologist Dr. Richard Shepherd, discussing his fascinating memoir and “true crime book of the year” Unnatural Causes: The Life and Many Deaths of Britain’s Top Forensic Pathologist, in conversation with former Senior Police Detective DCI Stuart Gibbon. Dr. Shepherd has examined evidence in some of the most high-profile criminal cases of the last 30 years, including Harold Shipman, the 7/7 bombings and Stephen Lawrence.
Broadway will also welcome legendary film producer Jeremy Thomas for a special Career Overview event on Friday 31 May. The Festival will also showcase a small selection of Jeremy Thomas’s work, including Dogman, High-Rise, and a rare screening of crime classic Sexy Beast, starring Ray Winstone and Ben Kingsley, presented in 35mm.
