Life ExhibitionsIt has been more than a year since the first lockdown, during which time we experienced significant social change. Especially for the creative community, from the limitation of physical exhibitions to the shutting down of collective studios, communication and social interactions became a luxury. But restrictions of different kinds encouraged alternative ways of thinking and making. When artists and young creatives had to transform their bedrooms into workplaces, they gradually began to introspect themselves and revaluate their relationships with their environments. The reflections expressed through many mediums are not limited to echoey loneliness but also encompasses re-positions of the individuals within the relational world. As we hibernated through this winter together, new art and creativity are burgeoning on the cusp of returning to normal.
Several Asian artists descent living in the UK were invited to present their latest works produced during the pandemic. The exhibition includes painting, photography, moving images, and clay and 3D printed sculptures. Each artist deployed their way of negotiating through this turbulent time. The audiences are welcomed to participate in on-site discussions and workshops designed for the creatives to share their experiences.
