In the run up to this year's festival, Young Hustlers are hosting fun-filled kids workshops down at Nonsuch Studios every Sunday.
Life NewsAs part of Nottingham's incredible music, arts and fundraising festival Hockley Hustle 2019, Young Hustlers returns on Sunday 27 October with creative activities for small humans and their adults.
On the build up to the festival, Young Hustlers are holding workshops at Nonsuch Studios every sunday. This weekend they started with percussionist and New Art Exchange regular Biant Singh in discovering the positive power of music through interactive rhythm. In this workshop children learned how to bash the djembe drum and feel the unity of making music with other people bringing them together. Over the month there will be a host of activities with details listed below:
DJ Workshop with Aicha Daffe

Get involved in the ones and twos with Aicha Daffe - member of the creative collective, SheAfriq and organiser of r'n'b night Honeydips. Aicha will teach you how to spin, mix and blend songs, so you can learn the basics of DJing and meet friends interested in getting a feel for the beat.
Rap and Spoken Word Workshop with Karizma and Bridie Squires

Nottingham hip hop legend Karizma and spoken-word poet Bridie Squires are teaming up to deliver a playful workshop in creating your own rhymes and rhythms. Karizma's tunes, like Badboy and Through My Window, are sure to inspire, while previous LeftLion Editor and NTU Writer in Residence Bridie Squires' nonsense verse will get you feeling proper silly.
Songwriting with Rob Green
Sunday 20 October, 1pm – 2.30pm

The soulful singer and loop-pedal prodigy, Rob Green, is fast becoming one of the most acclaimed artists in the UK. Mr Green is taking time out of his busy schedule to lead the nippers in a songwriting session designed to introduce aspiring songwriters to the basics of lyricism. Write your own lyrics, explore your ambitions and identity, and learn how to communicate honestly through music.
