Following a collaboration between the Creative Quarter Company and Nottingham Trent University, a report has been published recognising the role of the Creative Quarter Company in boosting the CDI sector in the city.
The CQ KnowledgeThe Creative Quarter Company was founded in December 2012, and in the nearly 10 years since, the east side of the city where the organisation is based has changed beyond recognition, and the creative and digital sector in the city has grown exponentially. Now, a report published in collaboration with the Department of Knowledge Exchange at Nottingham Trent University has delved into the statistics around the CDI sector.
The report shows that the number of CDI businesses in Nottingham has more than doubled since the year 2000, with growth particularly pronounced in the Creative Quarter.
The report confirms that Nottingham has a nationally significant cluster of CDI businesses, and thanks to a policy of place-making and investment in the east side of the city, there is a wider trend of strong growth across all businesses in the CQ.
In terms of the impact on Nottingham's economy, the CDI sector has contributed 11% GVA, at a value of £1.2bn, growing 4.5 times more than the average industry in Nottingham. The impact on job creation has been equally significant.
Further statistics about the health of the sector can be found in the full report, which you can access via the link below.
We do recognise that this quantitative data does not capture the nuanced and individual experiences of CDI businesses who may be struggling in the city right now, as a result of the pandemic, Brexit or a multitude of different factors.
