Meet The Team! We gave our team a series of short questions to discover more about their role at the Creative Quarter. Here's Georgia, our Events Manager.
The CQ BlogGeorgia Ames, Events Manager
A bit about you:
What’s your background?
I started my career in Childcare, then moved into an administration apprenticeship at the University of Nottingham. I then worked my way up to managing the University of Nottingham Business network. I’m grateful for the path I’ve taken and experiences I’ve had, to find my passion in events management.
Describe your role at the CQ:
At the CQ I manage our programme of events, under The Big House Programme, for small creative and digital businesses in Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire.
Tell us about a part of your job that people might not realise you do?
I think people don’t realise how much organisation goes into each and every event. A lot of the preparation would have been going on for many weeks, maybe even months!
What is your favourite part of working at the CQ?
I enjoy working with the local businesses and supporting the community. It’s great when we see a business value our support and use it to succeed in taking their ideas to the next level.
What places in the CQ do you love to visit when you’re not in work?
I am a sucker for a plant, so I love looking in the Watered Garden. I’m still fairly new to the CQ end of Nottingham so I’m enjoying discovering new places.
Modern urban living in and amongst refurbished lace factories and warehouses. On-trend independent retailers and many bars, restaurants, cafés, galleries, arts cinema and theatres. A buzz in the daytime and a rhythm at night.
Nottingham Trent University, the UK’s University of the Year, has a Creative Quarter campus. Nottingham College is investing £58m in a new skills hub. Confetti is expanding fast. Metronome is open for business and learning.
