Background

The Creative Quarter is an economic development agency located in Nottingham, supporting the start up and growth of creative and digital businesses in the Hockley, Lace Market and Sneinton areas, and across the city of Nottingham.

The Big House is a business support project to help Creative and Digital businesses to start up and grow. It is delivered by a partnership of 7 organisations across Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire, including the Creative Quarter. The Big House provides support to entrepreneurs and established businesses in the form of workshops, network events and one-to-one advice. It is part funded by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF). The project is due to run until September 2022.

Event Manager Requirements

We are seeking quotes from suitably qualified Event Manager to work with the Creative Quarter’s Big House team, with our partners and suppliers, to procure and deliver a successful events programme to support emerging and established businesses and young creative and digital entreprenuers (16-24), in support of achievement of ERDF outputs and other objectives.

This will be 3 days per week from 1st June, until the end of September 2022.

The Event Manager must have the following:

• Connections with creative businesses and entrepreneurs in the city, including young creatives between 16-24 years old.
• A good understanding of the business support landscape and the needs of businesses in Nottingham
• Able to create interesting and relevant content for creative and digital businesses and entrepreneurs of different sizes.

The scope of the work will include:

• Develop concepts for the Creative Quarter’s Big House events programme and translate those concepts into a deliverable events programme, including contributing to the design of event content.
• Manage ordering and payment processes used to identify, contract and remunerate individuals, contributors and organisations in support of event delivery. Ensure prompt payment of all suppliers associated with the delivery of events.
• Manage the successful implementation of the Creative Quarter’s Big House events programme, ensuring key milestones and targets are met and that events are delivered to a high standard and within budget, including prior and at-event participant registration and engagement recording, and the post-event maintenance of performance and output reporting systems.
• Strengthen existing relationships, and develop new partnerships with cultural, digital, business, innovation and enterprise organisations to support the delivery of the programme.
• Work with the Marketing Manager and Business Engagement Manager to ensure the Creative Quarter’s Big House events and business engagement programme is promoted effectively to identified audiences of businesses and potential entrepreneurs.
• Work with partners and the Marketing Manager to ensure the Big House website events and business engagement content is comprehensive and up-to-date.
• Prepare risk assessments and liaise with authorities and agencies to ensure compliance with relevant Health & Safety policies and practice.
• Undertake evaluation of events in accordance with the organisation’s Evaluation Framework.

Selection Criteria

A shortlist of applicants will be asked to meet with Creative Quarter staff.

Tenders will be scored according to the following criteria:

1) Capability and Quality (70%)

2) Price (30%)

Capability and Quality will include consideration of:

• Demonstrate experience of designing and delivering significant and regular events.
• Demonstrate experience of drawing up clear project plans for event delivery and meeting milestones set out in those plans.
• Experience of tendering and procurement of suppliers and contractors.
• Experience of managing and reporting financial transactions.
