Give us your elevator pitch – what does your business do?
I'm Tracey Whitefoot, a freelance photographer and videographer, and award winning landscape photographer. I specialise in Marketing, PR, Events and Architectural photography and videography, and am very much a people person.
I have over 15 years experience as a freelance photographer, and have worked with many of my clients since the beginning. What matters most to me is building an ongoing relationship with my clients that isn't just about a single commission. I'm as comfortable with a PR shoot as I am at a large event, or managing a bigger project for my clients, and have a lot of experience in all of these areas. I am very much a people person, making people feel comfortable and at ease. Adaptable in any situation, whether it's standing back to capture more natural images, or taking charge when required.
I may have been in business for a long time, but I'm always learning. Early in 2020 I added videography to the services that I offer my clients, and have become a specialist in making short social media video content, and produced my own documentary series called Lockdown Lives.
Landscape and architectural photography is an area of photography that I am perhaps best known for on social media. Capturing Nottinghamshire at sunrise is something that I am passionate about, and love to showcase the best that my home city and county has to offer in the best light.
Tell us about a piece of work you’ve completed that you’re currently proudest of?
After nearly 15 years purely as a photographer, the need to diversify during the pandemic this year meant that I started to do some videography as well, and I’ve recently added this to the list of services that I offer my clients. I’ve been doing a lot of videography on the front line over the last few months, and I’ve seen first hand what local communities have been doing to support people. This got me thinking about what the people I know had been through during lockdown, so I decided to interview some of them about their experiences. This eventually became 27 people, and I created a documentary ‘Lockdown Lives’ out of the interviews, a project I’m extremely proud of, especially given that 6 months ago I’d never done any videography! You can see the documentary below.
What do you love about working in Nottingham?
Because I’ve photographed so much of Nottingham and the events that have happened in Nottingham over the years, I feel like I know it inside out. I love that feeling, and never more so than when I’m out first thing in the morning capturing the sunrise, wherever that might be, as I feel like I have it to myself, there’s something super special about that. I also feel like I see, capture and share the most things that are most beautiful about our city, even if that’s a building site like the new Broadmarsh car park! I think it makes other people see the beauty of it too, and I like too surprise people when they like an image of something that they might otherwise have thought was ugly or not very very interesting.

Share your love for another Nottingham creative or digital business you work with or admire.
One BC in Sneinton is a company that I have a lot of admiration for. Back in 2018 when I was looking for an outfit to wear for my wedding, I heard about One BC from a friend and gave them a call. I was nervous walking through the door for the first time, as having a bespoke outfit made isn’t something I’ve ever done before, but they understood and ‘got’ what I wanted from that first meeting. They went on to make an outfit that made me feel amazing on the day, and Reeta and Tony have now become good friends. I really admire their business ethos and the way they work, and can’t recommend them highly enough.

Let us know what you’d do on your perfect Nottingham day (global pandemic notwithstanding!) – where do you go/eat/drink/shop?
The perfect day for me would start with a sunrise, of course! It doesn’t matter where, as long as the light is right, it just sets me up for the day. After that I’d probably go to Blend in Sneinton for lots of coffee and cooked breakfast, and then pop in on Tony and Reeta for a chat. After that I’d walk my pups by the Embankment, and then maybe have an afternoon snooze… after all I was up early for the sunrise! Dinner would maybe be a takeaway from the amazing Rikshaw in Sherwood, or dinner at Browns in the city with my amazing wife!
