Support for CraftCMS has exploded globally, as has the community of Nottingham developers and agencies making it their CMS of choice. If you're using Craft or just curious about why everyone is raving about it so much, come along to the next informal meetup for lovers of CraftCMS on Thursday 6th September.
Work AnnouncementsContent management systems aren't usually the subject of conversation at parties, and businesses (and their websites) rarely specify a particular CMS in their invitations to tender. Usually, businesses just want something that works and all too often that means a clunky content management system that they just have to "make do with".
CraftCMS seems to be changing that. Agencies like Kind, Makermet, Abstrakt, Nzime and more in Nottingham have been building Craft-powered websites for some time now, and the watershed moment of a client asking specifically to build with Craft is upon us, and with good reason. Craft is tidy, user-friendly, powerful, logical, future-proof and it's the CMS behind this very website you are reading.
“It seems like Craft is finally making some headway in Nottingham. We've seen a lot more local agencies writing blogs about Craft, so now feels like a good time to get together and share our success stores.”
Mat Hayward, Kind“The first time a client ever said 'wow, we want that' when we showed them a CMS dashboard was with Craft. Client's get on with it so well compared to WordPress that we now give a tour of a CraftCMS installation as part of our sales process”
Alex Traska, MakermetThe Craftin' Notts meet-up aims to bring together a group of Nottingham agencies and developers flying the Craft flag (along with those considering it or interested), to learn from one-another, and the clients we've been building websites for. The meet-ups will follow a regular format of guest-speaker, open-discussion and, in the near future, hands-on guided workshops are planned.

This month, Haro Kazandjian, Digital Delivery Manager at Henley Business School will give a talk on the challenges and benefits relating to the migration of their bespoke content management system to Craft back in 2016. Haro's discussion will help give developers and designers and new perspective on Craft; how has it improved their organisation's workflow? Is there anything they'd change about Craft?
An open discussion will follow, this month focussing on the overall aims of the meetup over the short term; the aim is to make the Craftin' Notts meetup as beneficial as possible for agencies teams and freelancers, who may have different needs or problems to tackle.
September's meeting is sponsored by Kind - the first beer is on them. Sign up via the meet-up website to be updated with a Hockley-venue to be confirmed shortly.
