Keishi Jewellery is an independent retailer in the heart of Nottingham’s Creative Quarter, which designs unique jewellery pieces from semi-precious and precious stones. I had a lovely chat with Natasha the Social Media Manger of the independent jewellery outlet situated in Combers Chambers for over a year now.Natasha acknowledges that this creative location with a variety of other independent business, offers a sense of community and support from the other business. Encouraging their customers to support the other retailers located around them, the sense of community, makes Comber Chambers an ideal location.
Work ShowcaseThe bright space of Keishi Jewellery allows their stunning collection to be the main focus. “We wanted the shop to be the background for the jewellery and the jewellery to act as art on the canvas on white walls and bare cabinets and everything to be minimal so that the jewellery can speak for its self.” With attention to detail, the little additions to their interior space complement the jewellery pieces by allowing them to step out and be the focal point.
Alongside their unique and classic pieces, Freshwater pearls continue to be a popular item in the industry. Although for Keishi Jewellery, the labradorite stone proves to be a versatile stone for all seasons. “It works for winter because it’s kind of a grey blue, but in the summer it’s kind of iridescent where it picks up lots of colours and light. It has become very popular in every design we have included it in.”
The beautifully made jewellery is designed with a combination of in-house designers and local designers. Keishi Jewellery uses their local surroundings to their benefit, such as the local silversmith. The Creative Quarters diversity has allowed them to building on these local connections.
The unique pieces at Keishi Jewellery are created in a variety of ways, such as keeping an eye on runway trends to know what is popular in upcoming seasons. “We also go to many fairs and on our travels, if we see a stone or something that we love we design a piece or a range around that, which is how we get most excited by the creation of a new piece. By finding something really fantastic we are able to be creative and design around that.” During the design process Keishi Jewellery are also interested in listening to what their customers love and stood out to them.
We look forward to see what other fantastic pieces Keishi Jewellery create by expanding their in-house collection, with the support and collaboration of local resources. We are excited to see Nottingham’s Creative Quarter grow – Along side Keishi Jewellery it will continue to provide “the sense of community and being right in the centre of it and you really get a sense of support from one and another.”
