The Real Creative Futures programme wants to shout loudly about the talent that the area has to offer, and there is no better way than showcasing some of the people who took part in the programme last time.
Work NewsThree businesses will share their experiences of how they transitioned through the programme, how they benefitted and where their journey has taken them.
So, we have:
The story of Saziso Phiri, who has burst on to the arts and music scene with The Anti Gallery, an antidote to the traditional ‘white cube’ style gallery. Working in unconventional spaces she is passionate about promoting work from people who don’t always feature in the mainstream art world.
Ben and Craig from Dizzy Ink, will feature their story of setting up a new print business in this dizzying world of digital and featuring their faithful Risograph printer.
Louise White, a theatrician, devises theatre with participation at its heart. Passionate about theatre her work is highly interactive – producing works that create a sense of community within the audience.
The Showcase will provide an opportunity to witness live street by ‘Dilk’, the owner of the first and only ‘Montana’ spray paint shop in the UK, based in Hockley. Dilk is an ambassador of graffiti/street art and has an international reputation working in Madrid, Berlin, Rio, Hong Kong and New York. Accompanying the demo will be an opportunity to hear local musician ELMZ XIX present.
The showcase will be held on Monday 24 April at 5:30 to 8:30 pm at the New Art Exchange.
Booking is via the Project Coordinator Laura who can be contacted on 0115 924 8630 or email lrossi@nae.org.uk.
