Spyridon is an up and coming theatre company from Nottingham, it's made up of three talented ladies that have a bright future in the performing arts industry.
Work ShowcaseWhile studying their degree at NCN Clarendon the girls are starting this exciting theatre company. This amazing trio that are Justine Sharp, Christina Tsoutsi and Krystal Groves has many amazing shows coming up and is working on some fantastic projects for their audiences and we can't wait to see what they have in store.

Christina - The team is three crazy girls full of ideas to change the world. Justine - We're completely bonkers and we're all fiery women. Krystal - I agree that we're crazy! But we use that to work well as a team as we channel that energy to create theatre.
“Spyridon theatre company is about bringing the society together by using versatile theatre forms to create performances, that reinforce society values and stands against a dystopian future. We want to bring the society together through theatre. We're three students all working towards our second year of theatre arts at Clarendon college where we all met.”

Christina - We devise theatre, our main goal is to bring everybody together and dispose of labels and everything that makes us isolate ourselves. Justine - We create theatre hoping to have a social impact and to make people question how we live our life's which we use comedic means to do that, which is fun for our audiences to watch.
Justine - We're a very versatile theatre company, we like to explore all kinds of theatre forms. Christina - We try to keep true to what Peter Brook describes as Rough Theatre and we create performances based on that principle using the means that we recognise as essential to highlight the message that we want to put across. The performances we do are around popular theatre using all sorts of contemporary means such as music projections and physical theatre to stimulate our audiences.

Krystal - We have a social political theme which we like to inspect through all types of genres. Christina - For our devising performances we're using a mix of dark humour and physical theatre to approach themes such as injustice and capitalism. One could say that we're walking between the boundaries of dark comedy and social drama, which makes the performance unique. One of our most recent performances that we're preparing for which will be performed on the 19th of April is a Farce written by Anton Chekov. The text is entertaining to listen to and the characters are really amusing and fun to watch.
Christina - I believe it started from us having a mutual respect for each other as artists. Krystal - We've always been drawn to each other as artistically and as friends. Justine - We're three different people with different backgrounds who simultaneously share the same ideas. We enjoy working together and inspire each other to be more creative, make a difference and to be overall better people.

Krystal - I came up with the name, I wanted to create a name that shares our personalities and backgrounds. Spyridon means affluent in Greek and spirit in Latin.
Christina - We want to be free to express ourselves and make an impact on the world through our art.
Krystal - We want to make a change in people's minds to open a door to understanding that our lives are in our hands and we are the only ones that have the power to make it better or worse.
Justine - I want Spyridon to be able to inspire people into their own way of thinking.
Christina - Yes, we do, we will be performing on the 18th April at 13:30 at Gedling country park, which is a site-specific performance about the history of the colliery. Krystal - We'll be performing our own adaptation of 'The Bear' by Anton Chekhov on the 19th of April at 19:30, which is at NSPACE at Nonsuch on Clarendon street, Nottingham. Justine - We're also devising a performance about capitalism and its effect on everyday lives. Our performance will be entitled 'The point is to change it' which we will be performing at Clarendon college on the 23rd May, times are still to be arranged. We'll then be performing it again at the BA Festival at the NCN Adams building. Justine and Christina - We're in the process of devising them and exploring the different means we can use.
