Work NewsMeet millie, a bra you can help bring to market...here's millie lingerie founder, Sue Pringle, to tell you more
Millie is a bra designed especially for women who have been through breast cancer treatment who want comfort and gorgeous. It’s taken over a year to perfect our prototype, and now we’re ready to take millie to market, by pre-selling the bra on Kickstarter from Monday 27 February.
We’ve been working with designer, Laura Stanford, previously of M&S, Debenhams and Agent Provocateur, who says millie is the “most challenging and inspiring design” she’s ever created. Pattern and sample makers, Laura and Karen helped refine and specify our design, and we’ve just begun production sampling. Tony Jarvis, past Sales & Marketing Director at Triumph UK and MD at Gossard UK has been advising and mentoring our Founder Sue Pringle throughout the prototyping process.
Last year, we held our first ‘Design Day’ – a focus group for women who have all been treated for breast cancer. They gave us some wonderful feedback and ideas about what they’d liked, and best of all, they loved our first design, saying it “welcomed them back to lovely lingerie that they didn’t feel entitled to anymore.”
The millie bra has already been featured in Underlines Magazine, the UK’s premium lingerie trade magazine, and had mentions from the Huffington Post and Telegraph, before they’ve even seen the bra!
millie's development has been achieved in collaboration with key organisations and individuals in Nottingham, including Medilink, NBV, Nottingham Trent University, University of Nottingham’s Ingenuity Network, LeftLion, Knox Design, Press for Attention, Nottingham Hospitals Charity and Nottingham City Council.
