Go Ultra Low Nottingham has teamed up with intu to run a two-day event from 24-25 February at intu Victoria Centre from 9am to 6pm to promote Nottingham City Council's Go Ultra Low Nottingham programme.
Work NewsThis will be a fantastic opportunity for the public and business community to see electric vehicles and meet the Go Ultra Low Emission Team, to find out the facts and dispel the myths about owning and operating electric and plug in hybrid vehicles. Coming soon - there'll also be infrastructure grants to help businesses transition to Ultra Low Emission vehicles. You can keep updated by visiting the Go Ultra Low Nottingham website.
Nottingham City Council was confirmed as one of four winning Go Ultra Low Cities - benefiting from £6.1m aiming to support cities in achieving an exemplar status for the promotion of increased uptake in Ultra Low Emission Vehicles. Partnership engagement and experience events such as this are an important way of raising wider awareness about what people can do to consider ultra low emission vehicles as an alternative, contributing to Nottingham’s improvement in air quality.
Local dealerships will be showcasing a range of ultra-low emission vehicles including BMW, Kia, Nissan, Renault and Tesla with the public being able to test drive one of the cars. All they need to do is pop down to intu Victoria Centre and sign up for a free test drive. Bookings are limited, and anyone wanting a test drive must remember to bring their driving licence and their National Insurance Number to the Go Ultra Low exhibition on the Lower Mall opposite John Lewis.
Councillor Nick McDonald Portfolio Holder for Business, Growth and Transport at Nottingham City Council, said:
“This will be a great opportunity for the public to talk to the experts and learn all there is to know about 100% electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles. Also, there will be the chance to sign up to book test drives with the dealerships. Low emission vehicles are a central part of the City Council’s ambition to provide a cleaner, joined-up and integrated transport network for the city that is good for businesses, domestic users and improves local air quality. We’re proud to be working in partnership with intu Victoria Centre to provide this opportunity.”
Nigel Wheatley, General Manager for intu in Nottingham said:
“As a responsible business, we are delighted to be able to work with Nottingham City Council to support this event. Minimising our impact on the environment is a key focus for intu, and we are always looking at how we extend this to help our customers to do the same. For example, we’ve had electric vehicle charging points in our car park for a number of years and we are looking forward to continuing this partnership with the council by installing more charging points.”
