Creative Expressive Arts Facilitator

Social Media

A fun, bubbly ball of creative energy! As a mixed media artist I love sharing my skills and experiences with others. Using the process of creative expressive arts to find, rediscover and release your inner world and imagination!

Scraggy Moo was set up by Marie Hegarty (me!) Marie has a degree in Creative Expressive Therapies and has been providing art workshops in and around Derbyshire for the past 10 years. Marie has worked as a nursery nurse, mental health recovery worker, after-school club tutor and freelance artist, using art as a positive tool to help people of all ages express themselves.

The very essence of who I am and the creative experiences I facilitate is all in the name of my freelance business. My childhood nickname was Scraggy Moo as I always enjoyed getting my hands into something messy! I was never hesitant to have a go at drawing, collage work, painting and playing around with ideas, I was purely having fun! I was not looking for the perfect outcome I was just finding a release for the sensory overload of colours, shapes, patterns and forms all around me in our natural world.

I believe every child and adult are innate with creative energy. The nature of my creative workshops originate around exploring materials and experimenting with art techniques that on a deeper, introspective level is a way of expressing our own thoughts, emotions and imaginations. In the moment you connect with your art and essentially yourself, it can relieve your mind and body of any stress. The creative process can be therapeutic. Hence my tagline LightHeARTed Fun- I hope from your time creating, talking and laughing with me, and alongside others, you feel uplifted, more relaxed and inspired to be your true authentic self.
