From your branded tote to your signature T, from your first tat to your latest text; motifs are the markers for the design stories of our aesthetic lives.As a hugely powerful design language in its own right, motif influences and shapes brand and product development across our creative landscape.Learn about the origins, development, trends and complexities of motif, and find out how it can unlock potential and new thinking in your design approach.ABOUT TIM RUNDLEWith an academic and design background that spans the full spectrum of graphics, illustration, fashion and interiors, Tim’s perspective is truly cross disciplinary, impacting on all design disciplines and creative outputs.Alongside his key academic role as Principal Lecturer in Fashion Communication and Promotion at NTU, Tim works as a stylist and consultant, developing new approaches to design analysis and innovative methodologies through his books (Visual contrast, Modern Vintage), workshops and articles (Elle Deco, Living etc and Telegraph Magazine). His unique combination of approachable authority and spirited enthusiasm has seen him win numerous teaching awards and high praise from industry and lifestyle brands.For the last 15 years Tim has been filtering this cultural exposure and professional preoccupation with lifestyle trends into a focused study capturing the phenomenon with Motif. Over the last decade, his project has been presented and tested across a number of global conferences and symposiums ( LA, Jaipur, Stockholm and London) as well as trialled through numerous workshops and consultancies.Tim’s multi-cultural perspective stems from the global mix of a Swedish family background - Stockholm and Malmo - with a childhood in Italy -Milan and Florence - combined with American step parents.This personal international exposure is matched by 30 years of professional perspective as a leading design academic, lecturing across the world in the US, India, China and Japan, as well as regular research trips across Europe to Berlin, Copenhagen and Paris.NETWORKINGMeet like-minded people in a friendly online environment.
