Notts Zine Library in Residece at The Zebrario

Notts Zine Library is a permanent collection of self-published materials housed within Nottingham Contemporary’s The Zebrario room as part of a one-year-long residency.

NZL was born from the love of supporting artists and zine makers at our annual Notts Zine Festival. NZL aims to provide a platform for anyone to showcase their zines, whilst archiving them in a comfortable and relaxed environment for readers to enjoy. We think zines are incredibly important and there should be a space dedicated to promoting D.I.Y culture.


In case you are wondering what Zine is?

A zine (pronounced ZEEN; short for fanzine) is most commonly a small circulation self-published work of original or appropriated texts and images. They tend to be curated, produced and distributed by individuals or small teams and thus become very personal projects.


NZL is open six days a week during exhibition times and everyone is welcome to visit. No need to book, just drop in!

You are welcome to read the Zines anywhere in the space as long as you pop them back after you are done. Unfortunately, you can’t take the Zines home with you as they are for reference only, and please remember it isn’t very punk to steal zines!

As part of a year-long residency with Nottingham Contemporary, the Zine Library will be organising book launches, pop up shops, takeover days, exhibitions and workshops – if you have a project you would like to organise, please get in touch using the email listed below.

Notts Zine Library is run by Dizzy Ink’s Benjamin Kay and Craig Proud, Raw Print’s Matt Gill and artists Carys Cook and Hannah Whitlow.

The archive is constantly growing, so if you want your Zines represented in the library please drop them in the submission box! They will be photographed and featured on the NZL Instagram page.
