This is a complete series of four workshops plus an independent research task. The workshops are designed to help you promote your business, engage potential customers and make the most of opportunities such as trade fairs, craft markets and pop-up shops.
TAKEAWAY
The series has been designed by and includes contributions from experienced independent businesses. Each workshop builds upon the last to grow your confidence to pop-up in public. At the end of the series you will be asked if you would like to participate in one of the pop up markets due to take place in the Creative Quarter Avenues at Sneinton Market. This will be a opportunity for you to use all the knowledge gained during the course and put your customer engagement techniques to the test in a fun and welcoming environment.
Session 1: Getting started: What you need to know about trading
Describing your product or service to others
Practical issues including legal, tax, simple book-keeping
Action planning for a pop-up
Session 2: Marketing and Promotion
Free or cheap methods you can use
Getting started with social media
Photographing your products and using images
Outlining your marketing strategy - focusing particularly on driving footfall to your pop-up
Session 3: Pricing Methods and Tips
How to price products/services relative to costs and context
Pricing strategies including offers and bundling
Session 4: Engaging Customers
Display and selling techniques
Using space creatively and effectively
Talking to customers
Building contact
WHEN
4 x 3 hour workshops (6-9pm) on Wednesday evenings plus an independent research task. You must register for each workshop separately.
WHO SHOULD ATTEND
Designers or makers from the creative or digital industries with products or services to sell. You MUST be:
Eligible for & enrolled with The Big House Programme AND
Have received less than 12 hours of support from The Big House Programme.
