amar Guimarães works with time-based media, exploring situations both residual and contemporary relating to art, architecture, and the institutions that present them. Another, more documentary strand of her work has delved into spectral architecture, ritual effervescence, voice hearing among Spiritists in central Brazil, states of rapture and their intersection with the nation state.
This event brings together artistic practices dealing with the colonial legacies of modernism and its interrelated ecological-climatic dynamics in Brazil, favouring political openness as lens to examine its present. Part of On Translations.
