Shot nonstop on location over one weekend, The Orchardis an improvised take on the most seen play in the world – Chekhov’s The Cherry Orchard. Working with six actors from Shakespeare at The Tobacco Factory the film questions the role(s) and meaning of acting as it interpolates text and theatre into film. Underlying the Chekhov structure is Pirandello’s Six Characters in Search of an Author. The script was two pages long. Interestingly, the film won Best Screenplay at the Amsterdam Film Festival!
